Here are 3 of the many doors that caught my eye while walking around Beijing during my all-too-brief visit there last May. While there were plenty of doors that were freshly painted and well-maintained, I found that the weathered paint of these interested me more.
This week’s friday foto finder challenge was to find a photo of a door. Once again, my biggest challenge was choosing from among my options! To see what other doors have been found this week, please pay a visit to the friday foto finder blog!
Also, if you (like me) find that run-down and weathered things make for interesting photos, please check out my friend Magpie‘s Decay and Desuetude blog.
What type camera did you use?
Beautiful!
Hi, Sullimaybe–
Thanks for the compliment. As for my camera, it is an Olympus Pen E-P1 from 2009. For these photos, I used a 20 mm fixed length Lumix lens. (My <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pancake_lens"pancake lens.) My camera (especially with this little lens on) is nicely compact. It’s a bit bigger than a typical point-and-shoot, but much smaller than a DSLR.
Yes. These are perfect for Maggie’s blog.
What is it about peeling paint, especially on doors and windows? I often wonder if it’s a sign of my age that I find such things beautiful, comforting, noteworthy. I think they are symbols to me of an imperfect life, well lived and well loved.
I feel like the Pied Piper of decay. :)
Very nice. I love old doors too.
Those are lovely!
Very impressive doors. I wonder how many people have gone in and out of them over the years. (Sorry I’m late on this)
