no damn cat, no damn hat

So I sat on my ass
All this cold dreary day
And I said “How I wish
I had more time to play.”

No time to write posts
That are well thought-out rants,
No time to write lists
about movies with pants.

So I all I can do is to
Bitch,
        whine
                and moan
And each time the phone rings
Shout “leave me alone!”

No damn cat came in wanting
To show me his “things”
But the living room’s trashed
And the bathtub’s got rings

Glued to the keyboard
With deadlines a-loomy
The house is a mess
And my mood is all gloomy.

I should do my work now
While the clocks say it’s lating
But this is a fun way
Of procrastinating.

I couldn’t resist this week’s Monday Mission, which asked for a post in the style of a children’s book or poem.

    Love it! :)

Though a life without time to write lists about pants does sound a bit gloomy. Ah well, this too shall pass…

  2. I am impressed. You have some serious linguistical-type skills. Maybe you should go to school for them or something?

Hmm. I was aiming for funny and seussy. But crankiness will prevail.

The pants lists will find a way. Really, the gloom is exaggerated. I just like the word. I’m glad you liked the “lating,” bit.

Thanks! Glad to share a smile. And I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Ah, a giggle. Giggles are good. Giggle is also a good word.

Thanks! And the fog is lifting. If only those deadlines didn’t gang up like that.

    Glad you enjoyed it!

Yes, Thing 1 and Thing 2 have dubious personal hygiene.

    Thankseuss.

Yes, time to play would be nice. But at least I’m not coughing up a lung like you, which also impedes play.

Ah, that’s a grand idea. I wonder if I could study Seussology?

I remember your Launderworky poem well. It was fabulous, sudsy goodness.

    Thanks!

Who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him?

I’m glad you enjoyed that. And happy that my tag cloud reflects, at least to some extent, the silliness of me. Also the list-lover. Clearly, I need more pants posts, though.
