I submit to you that pigtails are cute. Especially when worn by a cute toddler, and held in place by pony tail holders of mismatched colors.
Exhibit A:
Time is running away with me again. Or perhaps running away from me, as I chase after it cartoon-like with an oversized butterfly net. In any case, I need to go to bed. But I felt like posting something. Like a picture. Oh, fine. I also wanted an excuse to post this picture. So look: pigtails.

Further evidence.
She is so beautiful. The pigtails rock.
This is timely, because I have had secret questions about pigtails lately. Here’s the scenario: I am going to be 29 next week. My hair is currently in a state of general badness in terms of both cut and length, and it’s very difficult to manage or put up. Pigtails, however, might just work. Can I still rock the pigtails without looking like an idiot?
I fear that I already know the answer. Does it help if I yell defensively, “I don’t want to look 12! I just want to put my hair up! Is that so freaking wrong?!?!?!?”
not much else is cuter, really.
definately cute
They’re like tiny little hair fountains … yes, seriously CUTE.
Oh. My. Heart.
I am a big fan of pig tails. I mean, what’s not to love.
Julia:
That very topic arose recently in the token household. Without wishing to be indelicate, I’ll point out that the token mistress is, well, older than 29.
And as the link I posted in the first comment demonstrates, the fundamental hypothesis that pigtails are cute holds despite the age of the pigtailee.
I put forth the following: the token mistress in the above pictures does not look 12, the pigtails rock, and she is cute, but not in a “oh, I’m so twee” way, more in a “cute like a big cuddly mountain lion” way.
Oh, she does look totally cute, like a lion, of course. I’m glad, because I went ahead and rocked the pigtails myself today. Thanks, I feel validated now.
I’m happy to be able to advance the cause of the pigtail. Also, I like being able to say I have a token mistress.
Totally cute. I’ve been sticking Jolie’s hair into an alfalfa sprout on the top of her head- not out of meanness but out of necessity (we’re growing out part of her bangs, although by ‘we’re’ I mean ‘I’m’).
Adorable.
oh yeah, cute.
jwbates-
Cuddly mountain lion, huh? Hee hee. Pigtails rock.
Julia-
I’m glad you went ahead and rocked the pigtails. I’m glad that John and I were able to lend some validation.

The evidence is strong, is it not?
maypole-
Glad you agree.
azahar-
Little hair fountains! I like that.
mad-
I’m glad you’re also a fan.
KC-
There is something to be said for the alfalfa sprout, too. Also sometimes known as the Pebbles Flinstone.
maggie-
I won’t argue with you.

Another vote in favor!
